4 Games to Shape the Premier League Season

| 20.03.16 | 0 Comments

It’s been an unpredictable season to say the least. Leicester have clung on to the top spot for the best part of the season, North London rivals Arsenal and Spurs are still clawing behind for the title, and Manchester City have slumped down to fourth place.

It looks like Arsenal and Tottenham’s best chance of claiming that Premier League crown in years.

Leicester looked like they might drop down after a draw with West Brom, but Arsenal and Spurs managed to miss their chance to take the top spot with Arsenal losing two games in a row against Manchester United and Swansea, and Tottenham losing 1-0 at West Ham.

As always, the Premier League is unpredictable and anything can happen this season. If you fancy placing a bet on who’ll lift the trophy, here’s our guide to the big games that could decide where it ends up.

Manchester City v Manchester United (Sun 20 Mar)

A mouth-watering fixture in any season, the Manchester Derby will surely have an impact on the top four finishing teams. Both teams are battling for a Champions League spot, with the Manchester rivals just four points apart.
United’s team has been chopped and changed since Van Gaal took the reins, but it looks like they have settled back into winning ways. Manchester United’s 18-year-old Marcus Rashford has forced his way into the first team, scoring 4 goals in his first 2 games. The striker looks like he will continue his form and cause some trouble for City’s defence.
Their last match ended in a draw but with both team scraping to secure their spot in the top four, this is a must-win fixture for both sides.

Tottenham v Manchester United (Sun 10 Apr)

With Spurs closer than ever to winning the Premier League for the first time in over 50 years, they can’t afford to drop points against top teams. Harry Kane has had his moments this season but United pose a serious threat after a spell of poor form.
Spurs will need a win against a team they have not beaten in over two years. This match will mould the rest of the season for either team. United can secure a Champions League Spot or Spurs can take their title challenge into the final third.

Manchester United v Leicester (Sun 1 May)

This game could be the difference between Leicester winning the title or securing a Champions League spot. Either way, they face a tough gig at Old Trafford. Both teams took away a point from their last meet but that won’t be enough for either team this late in the season.

Manchester City v Arsenal (Sun 7 May)

Arsenal have won their last two games against City, but with the season coming to a close, they will have a hard time toppling a strong City side at the Etihad. Manchester City are looking stronger as the season progresses, with Aguero back to his best and Arsenal having a habit of falling short at the last hurdle. I think this will be the game that ends Arsenal’s title hopes.
