Top Online Sports Bets of the Month – September

The Olympics may be over but the Premier League is back, which means plenty of sporting action in the coming month! Not sure what to wager on in September? Let us be your guides.

The Manchester Derby – English Premier League (10 Sept)

One of the most exciting fixtures of the Premier League season, two of the biggest teams in Europe – not to mention local rivals – come together at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground for one of the most mouthwatering games in football.

It’s not just a clash of two great teams, but it’s a clash of two great managers meeting for the first time in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola come face to face once again after their fierce El Classico rivalry back in La Liga.

The only thing likely to make this game more exciting is placing a bet.

Both teams are unbeaten in the first three games of the season, but at least one team will be dropping points come the 10th. Zlatan Ibrahimović and Marcus Rashford are scoring impressive goals, while Manchester City have signed a new goal keeper in Barcelona’s Claudio Bravo who will be making his City debut.

I don’t see the likes of Mourinho and Ibrahimović losing big games like this on their home turf. They make a potent partnership and I don’t think City’s defense can withstand such an attack.

City have recently signed John Stones from Everton who wouldn’t have had enough time to form a centre back partnership capable of keeping United at bay. I see this being a 2-0 United win. Either way, it’s sure to be a managerial masterclass and one of the most exciting Manchester Derbies in years!

UEFA Champions’ League Group Qualifying (13 Sept)

The best teams in Europe come together to battle it out to qualify past the Champions League group stages for the biggest cup in European football. Barcelona take on Celtic, PSG take on Arsenal, Bayern Munich face FC Rostov and plenty more exciting match ups.

I look forward to the early stages of the Champions League as it sees big strong teams come up against much weaker teams from smaller European leagues, and this makes for a great opportunity – the accumulator.

A 6-fold accumulator (or more if you fancy your chances) could see a nice win, even when picking the favourite of each match – teams like Barcelona, Napoli, Munich, Basel and Athletico Madrid are more than likely to win.

These are must-win games where the teams need to perform and will have their strongest and most expensive sides out.

Who doesn’t love a good acca? And this is a perfect football day for a nice accumulator. It’s best to keep it simple with the winning team, rather than winning scores… unless you know something I don’t?

F1 – Singapore Grand Prix (18 Sept)

Every month there’s an exciting F1 race to look forward to, and September sees the F1 head to the ultra-modern Singapore street circuit.

The Marina Bay race is unique as it takes place at night under the lights, is usually the longest race of the year, and comes at the most humid time of year. Not only that, there’s also a higher chance of rain! All these elements can affect tyre wear and race strategies, making for a tasty betting opportunity.

F1 betting is a bit of a niche market, but if you check out the statistics and driver preferences then there’s some good bets to place. Picking the top 3 finishers in this race would be a good one (Raikkonen, Rosberg and Hamilton would be my picks).

There’s plenty of bets to pick from, and with so many factors to consider it makes things even more exciting!

The Champions League of Darts, Cardiff (24-25 Sept)

The first Champions League of Darts sees Michael van Gerwen and Phil Taylor in the round-robin stage.

The top 8 darts players compete as pairs with the top two players from each group heading to a semi-final before deciding the final. Darts offers some goods odds with the likes of Gary Anderson, Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen dominating most tournaments. Backing an outsider could be a fun bet, and with the tournament structure the way it is there’s always a good chance an outsider could win.

There’s plenty of great betting opportunities taking place in September including the ParalympicsMoto GP at Silverstone, the Davis Cup Semi-Finals and the One Day Cricket Final at Lords. Whatever sport you fancy your chances at, there’s plenty of betting fun to be had.
